Anil Kumble appointed as coach of Indian cricket team

Team India’s former leg-spin bowler Anil Kumble has been named as the new coach of the Indian team for the next one year. The former Indian Test captain will take charge of the team for the Carribean tour, which includes 4 Tests against the West Indies side.

BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) played a major role in the coach selection process. The committee comprising of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman have played a lot of cricket with Kumble and backed him for the role.

Kumble has been the Chairman of the ICC Cricket Committee since 2012, a role he will leave after taking up the Indian coaching job.
