Suresh Raina feels biopics on cricketers inspire people

Team India’s left-handed batsman Suresh Raina feels that the journey biopics portray show how cricketers became something from being ordinary individuals. He sees it as an inspiration for people.

Speaking to the Hindustan Times from Poland, where Raina is working on his cricket academy, he said biopics will inspire people ‘to do something for themselves and their country.’

The southpaw said, “You never know the true story of why someone like a Tendulkar or a Dhoni became a cricketer. They too were simple just like anyone else, but they did something that made them famous. When a biopic gets made on the life of a cricketer, people get to know the struggles they went through to become icons for the country and the sport. For me, I am more excited about Sachin Tendulkar’s biopic than Dhoni paji’s. I followed Sachin since childhood and I am excited to know what sacrifices he made in his life to be who he is.”

He added: “No one knows the complete truth. Based on the interviews or whatever comes on the television, you only know about someone’s life in bits and pieces. With a biopic, a fan will know what goes behind the scenes and get inspired to do something for themselves and the country.”

The biopic of Raina’s close friend MS Dhoni, will release on September 30 and the 29 year old believes that sometimes the whole story is not known and a biopic shows the struggle faced by individuals and the reason why these players took up the game.

However, Raina does not see one being made on him anytime soon. But he joked that should one be made, he would love to see Shahid Kapoor or Sidharth Malhotra to play his part.
