WATCH : Tom Latham survives after the ball hits the grille of KL Rahul’s helmet at short leg

On Day 2 of the Green Park Test, New Zealand opener Tom Latham attempted a sweep shot off the bowling of Indian spinner Ravindra Jadeja in the 37th over.

The ball first hit the bat and then the boot of the batsman and finally scooped up to the short leg fielder KL Rahul, who after fumbling a bit somehow managed to grabbed the catch. There was a huge appeal and the on-field umpire Richard Kettle Borough went up to the third umpire Anil Chaudhary for the correct decision of the catch.

The replays indicated that the ball was clearly touching grill of Rahul’s helmet and as per the rule, if the ball touches any part of helmet then the decision will be given not out and something similar happened here as well.
