WATCH : Why Virat Kohli got out early in the semi-final match against Australia during ICC World Cup 2015?

During the semi-final match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 between India and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), India’s star batsman Virat Kohli failed to score runs and got out very early in the innings. He played 13 balls and managed to score just a single run.

The right-hander top edged the short delivery by bowled by Australian speedster Mitchell Johnson straight into the hands of Brad Haddin.

The story doesn’t end here. Kohli’s girlfriend and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, who came to Sydney all the way from India to support Kohli and Team India was blamed for his dismissal. Many fans believed that her presence distracted Kohli and that is why he played a lose shot.

Virat Kohli was made to look like a ‘villain’ and Anushka Sharma got all the abuses for supporting her boyfriend.

Though later, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly slammed fans and media for blaming the Bollywood actress for Kohli’s failure and said, “What wrong Anushka has done? She had only gone to see a cricket match like the families of other players. It is unfair to blame him for Kohli‚Äôs performance. It is the immaturity of people (criticising Anushka).”

“When two people are in love, there is nothing wrong in that,” he added.

Indian skipper MS Dhoni also defended Virat and said, “Pehli baat yeh hai ki til ka taad nahin banate hain (Let’s not make a mountain out of a mole hill). Let’s accept the fact that he played a shot that didn’t pay off. It happens and it happens to a lot of batsmen.”

Why we gave it back, Virat and Anushka will tell you!

Now, this spoof video by Pinch n Punch is a hilarious take on that situation.
