The former Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag, who is known for his witty tweets and humorous comments on his fellow cricketers today showcased his brilliance once again.
This time one who was on the receiving end was Team India’s current Test opener Shikhar Dhawan.
On Day 3 of the second Test match being played at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, when Shikhar came to bat in the second innings, he received a nasty blow on his thumb after a vicious delivery from New Zealand’s pacer Trent Boult hit his finger.
Sehwag who was sitting in the commentary box was quick to react on the situation and said,
“Well, after KL Rahul, Dhawan is also injured which means my friend Gambhir will play the next match.”
Gautam Gambhir has been selected in the Indian squad after KL Rahul got hamstring injury in Kanpur test. Fans are eager to see him bat in Test cricket after two years.
Meanwhile, after being dismissed leg before wicket to Boult, Dhawan was taken to the city hospital.
“He was at the hospital for five minutes roughly. The x-ray report is yet to come. There is some doubt whether he will be able to take the field,” a source close to the development said.
