Records created by Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane against New Zealand in the third Test match

Batting first in the 3rd Test at Indore, Indian batsman scored 557/5 runs against New Zealand and declared their first innings.

Indian batsmen Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane piled on the runs against the visitors and also reached their personal landmarks.

Kohli scored his second Test double hundred before getting out for 211 while Rahane missed out on his maiden double century by just 12 runs.

Records created by Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane against New Zealand in the 1st innings:

1.) Virat Kohli became the first Indian skipper to score two double hundreds in Tests.

2.) This is the second time that India’s no. 4 and no. 5 scored 150+ runs in the same innings. Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman were the first pair to do so when they scored 241 not out and 178 respectively against Australia at Sydney in 2004.

3.) Kohli became the sixth Indian batsman to score two Test double hundreds in the same calendar year.

4.) Ajinkya Rahane scored his highest score in Test cricket – 188 runs.

5.) Virat Kohli score his highest score in Tests and also the highest Test score by a captain against New Zealand – 211.

6.) The 365 runs partnership between Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli is the fifth best partnership by Indian batsmen in Tests.
