ICC  Champions Trophy 2017: Dinesh Karthik replaces injured Manish Pandey

Team India and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) middle-order batsman Manish Pandey has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 due to injury.

Wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik has replaced injured Manish Pandey in the Indian squad.

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee have named middle-order batsman and wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik as a replacement for Manish Pandey, who sustained a left side strain during a practice session, in the India team for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy,” the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement.

Karthik was one of the five standbys named by the selectors while announcing the 15-member squad for the ICC Champions Trophy, to be played in England and Wales from June 1.

The right-handed batsman is in sublime form and has scored a lot of runs for his franchise Gujarat Lions in the 10th edition of IPL 2017. He scored a total of 361 runs in 14 matches at an average of 36.10.

Karthik was also a part of the team that visited England in the last edition of the ICC Champions Trophy that was held in the year 2013.
