After a wait of more than four years, India’s Ravindra Jadeja has acquired the top spot in the latest released ICC men’s rankings for all-rounders.

Thanks to his impressive comeback in the longest format when he played the recently-concluded first Test against Sri Lanka, Jadeja has now dethroned West Indies’ Jason Holder to become the number one all-rounder. Jadeja last held the numero uno position for a week in August 2017.

In the first innings, Jadeja registered his career-best score of unbeaten 175 to help India post a humungous total of 574/8 declared. The 33-year-old followed it up with a five-wicket haul in Sri Lanka’s first innings and a four-fer in the second essay.

Riding on Jadeja’s all-round display of sensational cricket, Team India, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, won the Mohali Test by an innings and 222 runs. Further, Jadeja also advanced three places to No. 17 on the bowlers’ category and from 54th to 37th on the batting table.

With Holder falling to the second spot, Ravichandran Ashwin has lost his second place to reach the third position. Notably, Ashwin also bagged the limelight with his impressive performance with both bat and ball in the Mohali Test. Ashwin scored a crucial 61 during India’s innings and picked up a total of six wickets (2 in the first innings and 4 in the second). He also went past legendary Kapil Dev to become India’s second-highest wicket-taker after Anil Kumble.

Apart from Jaddu, former India skipper Virat Kohli, who scored 45 in his landmark 100th Test, moved up two spots to No. 5 in the batters rankings headed by Australian Marnus Labuschagne. Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has also broken into top-10, thanks to his explosive 96 off 97 in the first innings.

Although, there were no major changes in the top ten of the Men’s Bowling Rankings owned by Aussie captain Pat Cummins. There was only one change, with Neil Wagner replacing Josh Hazlewood to acquire the eighth spot.
