Sara Tendulkar started trending on Twitter soon after India’s opening batter Shubman Gill smashed a record-breaking century in the third and final T20I against the Blackcaps at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Wednesday.

Sara, the daughter of batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, has been linked with Shubman for a long time. There were reports of the two dating each other before Gill was spotted with Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan at a restaurant in Mumbai last year. However, neither of the three has come out to clear the speculations made by the paparazzi.

The 23-year-old Gill took just 54 balls to smash his maiden century in the shortest format of the game. Shubman hit 12 fours and 7 sixes during his unbeaten knock of 126, and it impressed fans and cricket experts.

In his record-breaking inning, the Punjab lad surpassed former India captain Virat Kohli, who earlier held the record for slamming the highest-score by an Indian in T20Is. Kohli scored 122 not out against Afghanistan in the 2022 Asia Cup.

Here’s how fans responded to Sara Tendulkar’s trend after Shubman Gill’s century:

After receiving his ‘Player of the Match’ award as India thrashed New Zealand by a heavy margin of 168 runs, Gill said: “It feels good when you practice and it pays off. I was backing myself to score big. Didn’t happen in the Sri Lanka series, but happy to see it work out now. Everybody has a different technique to hit sixes.”

He added: “When you represent your country, there is no fatigue. It was my dream to play for India, and I am very fortunate to be part of the team in all three formats.”
