The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) finally opened their account in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 after defeating UP Warriorz in the Wednesday night fixture to register their first win in the competition. Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry was the star of the show, impressing one and all with her outstanding bowling.

Perry went on to bag a three-wicket haul while conceding only 16 runs in her quota of 4 overs. Her phenomenal performance with the ball helped the Challengers pack Warriorz for just 135, which was chased down by RCB in 18 overs.

Apart from her performances in the matches, Perry has also gained attraction with her off-the-field acts, one of such is cleaning of dugouts. Recently after RCB’s fifth loss, a picture went viral on the internet where the Aussie star was seen cleaning her team’s dugout, picking up bottles and garbage and putting them in the dustbin.

Perry also spoke about this habit of her in a video shared on the official YouTube account of Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Aussie cricketer said it’s her way of appreciating and respecting the place where she plays.

“I’m certainly not the only one doing that, but I guess it’s just kind of like an acknowledgement of how much you appreciate and respect where you’re playing and everything that gets put on for you,” said Perry.

Perry has been phenomenal in the ongoing WPL season. She is the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament with 205 runs to her name in six matches at an average of 41 and strike rate of 132.26, including 22 fours and seven sixes. She has also smashed two half-centuries for the Challengers this season.

Perry’s team, RCB, who still have some outside chance of making it into the playoffs, will next face Gujarat Giants in the 16th match of the competition at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on March 18.
