On May 21 (Sunday), Mumbai Indians (MI) became the fourth and final team to reach the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) playoffs. They will now take on the third-ranked team, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), in the Eliminator.

The winner of the upcoming match will compete with the loser of Qualifier 1, which is scheduled between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Tuesday, May 23.

Despite LSG emerging victorious in all three games against MI, they face a formidable challenge this time. Mumbai, captained by the five-times title winner Rohit Sharma, will look to stop the winning streak of Krunal Pandya’s Lucknow at Chepauk, known for favouring the spinners.

The Eliminator between LSG and MI promises to be a thrilling contest, as MI aims to take revenge of their previous defeats and move ahead to secure a place for Qualifier 2.

Sachin Tendulkar’s cheeky post after MI enters the play-offs

In a high-scoring encounter at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, Shubman Gill outshone Virat Kohli’s record-breaking century to lead GT to victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Gill’s unbeaten knock of 104 runs from just 52 deliveries dashed RCB’s aspirations of qualifying for the playoffs.

As a consequence of the match’s outcome, RCB got knocked out of the IPL 2023, while MI secured the last remaining playoff spot.

In response to MI’s qualification, the legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar took to social media with a playful post.

“.@CameronGreen_ & @ShubmanGill batted well for @mipaltan. Amazing innings by @imVkohli too to score back-to-back 100’s. They all had their methods & were in the class of their own. So happy to see MI in the playoffs. Go Mumbai.
#AalaRe #MumbaiMeriJaan #IPL2023,” tweeted Tendulkar.

Tendulkar’s cheeky post reflects the excitement surrounding MI’s progression to the playoffs and adds an element of fun and celebration to the ongoing tournament.
