After a 45 minute delay and hailstorm showers in the city of Bangalore, Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Hardik Pandya won the toss at the Chinnaswamy Stadium and opted to field first against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). What followed was nothing but an absolute cracker of a knock as RCB’s megastar Virat Kohli smashed a glittering century.

Kohli, who recently smashed his first ton in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and sixth overall, went a step ahead in the game against the defending champions, smashing seventh IPL century to go past Chris Gayle’s all-time record of 6 hundreds in the cash-rich league.

Kohli remained unbeaten on 101 from 61 deliveries, including 13 fours and a six, helping the Challengers reach a formidable total of 197/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Notably, this game is extremely important for the Faf du Plessis-led side, especially after Mumbai Indians (MI) emphatic triumph against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the first game of the Sunday’s double header.
