Scott Boland successfully booked a spot in the playing eleven of the Australian side. Pat Cummins, the captain of Australia, has confirmed that fellow fast bowler Boland will play the World Test Championship (WTC) final against India. The high voltage clash will take place at the Oval in London from June 7.

A day before Australia takes on India , Australian cricket team made the confirmation regarding their bowling attack, revealed captain Cummins in the press conference on Tuesday (June 6).

The Australian bowling attack was already fixed, with Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon and Cummins himself  leading the attack from the front. They had to pick one between Michael Neser and Scott Boland to complete the final puzzle in the bowling department. Now, Boland will be the third seamer in the playing XI for the summit clash.

Earlier, On Sunday (June 4), key pacer Josh Hazlewood got ruled out of the marquee clash due to his ongoing achilles and side issue and Neser earned a call-up to Australia’s 15-member squad. Neser was included in the squad based on his red-hot form in County Cricket.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Cummins stated that all the bowlers should operate differently and reckoned Boland’s ability to hit the same area consistently will help them significantly.

“We’re big on kind of everyone bowling slightly differently. Scott is a seam bowler on a good length, but he just offers something slightly different to Joshy Hazlewood, and Starcy being a left hander is bit different. So I don’t think there’s ever a pecking order. You think about the three guys that you want to go out and play. Someone like Scotty, it’s just a really simple game-plan – you hit your good areas and you stay there all day and hopefully the ball will do the work for you,” Cummins said.

Boland, who has had a dream start to his career, has taken 28 wickets in seven Test matches at an average of 13.42. It is the lowest bowling average of any Test cricketer to have sent down at least 1000 deliveries since the start of the 20th century.
