ICC T20I Rankings: Marcus Stoinis dethrones Mohammad Nabi to acquire top spot, Hardik Pandya shows gain

The latest ICC T20 all-rounder rankings have seen a significant shake-up, with Australia‘s Marcus Stoinis rising to the number one spot. Stoinis’ aggressive performances with both bat and ball in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 have been pivotal in propelling Australia into the Super 8 stage.

Marcus Stoinis tops ICC T20 all-rounder rankings

His outstanding contributions included an unbeaten 67 runs and three wickets against Oman, and a crucial 59-run knock against Scotland. These performances have earned him the top T20 all-rounder ranking with 231 rating points, surpassing Afghanistan‘s Mohammad Nabi, who now holds the fourth position with 213 points.

In addition to his crucial innings against Oman and Scotland, Stoinis also delivered a match-winning 2/9 against Namibia. His most impressive feat came against Scotland, where he scored an inspired 59 from just 29 balls, rescuing Australia from a precarious position of 60/3 to ensure their victory. Stoinis’ all-around prowess has been a key factor in Australia’s perfect record in the group stage of the T20 World Cup.

Hardik Pandya climbs up

Meanwhile, Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has also made notable strides in the ICC rankings, moving up to seventh position with 192 rating points. Pandya’s rise in the rankings underscores his consistent performances and vital role within the Indian squad. He is currently the only Indian player in the top 10 of the T20 all-rounder rankings, reflecting his significant impact on the field.

Shifts in bowling rankings

The T20 World Cup has also brought considerable changes to the ICC T20I Bowling Rankings. West IndiesAkeal Hosein has surged up six places to second, thanks to his remarkable performances. England’s Adil Rashid retains the top spot, demonstrating his continued excellence in T20 cricket. Additionally, Alzarri Joseph and Gudakesh Motie from the West Indies have moved up the rankings significantly, with Joseph climbing six spots to just outside the top ten and Motie making an impressive leap of 16 spots to 13th place.

Updates in batting rankings

The batting rankings have seen their share of movement, though the top four positions remain unchanged with Suryakumar Yadav, Phil Salt, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan holding their spots. Australian opener Travis Head has advanced five places to fifth, showcasing his consistent run-scoring ability. West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran has also made a significant leap, moving up eight places to 11th, driven by his impactful performances. Sherfane Rutherford‘s extraordinary 68* against New Zealand has propelled him up 43 places to 42nd, underscoring his potential to make further inroads in the rankings.
