The upcoming India-Pakistan clash in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 has fans from both nations on the edge of their seats, as anticipation reaches fever pitch. Known for its electrifying atmosphere and intense rivalry, the match promises to be a spectacle that transcends the boundaries of sport. Fans are eagerly awaiting the showdown, with social media buzzing with predictions, discussions, and expressions of support for their respective teams. The historical significance and the sheer intensity of the rivalry add layers of excitement, making this encounter one of the most highly anticipated matches in the cricketing calendar.

Kamran Akmal suggests a change in India’s batting order

Ahead of the mouth-watering clash, former Pakistani cricketer Kamran Akmal has voiced his concerns regarding India’s batting order. Akmal reckoned that India should make a crucial adjustment by placing Virat Kohli at No. 3 in the batting lineup, replacing him with Yashasvi Jaiswal as the opener.

“I don’t think the batting order is correct. Virat Kohli can take the pressure at No. 3 and finish the match. That is very important for Team India. Yashasvi Jaiswal should open the batting. Kohli should come at 3,” Akmal stated in a video on his YouTube channel.

Akmal on Team India’s mistake

Akmal stressed that India’s current batting strategy could prove detrimental, as evidenced in the recent match against Ireland on Wednesday (June 5). Kohli’s early dismissal after scoring just one run off five balls highlighted the potential pitfalls of his opening role.

“If India stick to this batting order (of Kohli) opening, then they may get stuck at some point. Kohli holds one end up and finishes off the game. I think India are making a mistake by opening with Kohli,” added Akmal.

Successful stint in IPL 2024

Despite Akmal’s concerns, it’s noteworthy that Kohli has enjoyed significant success as an opener for his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2024. Kohli was awarded the Orange Cap in the recent IPL season, having scored 741 runs at a striking rate of 154. This performance underscores his capability in the opener role, adding complexity to the decision India faces.

Akmal shares his take on the pitches in New York

In addition to his comments on India’s batting order, Akmal also voiced concerns about the quality of the pitches in New York, where the World Cup matches are being held. He urged the International Cricket Council (ICC) to ensure better pitch conditions for crucial games.

“ICC will have to produce better pitches for big matches. Otherwise, people will go away from this World Cup,” Akmal added further.

Pakistan under pressure following defeat against USA

As the countdown to the match against India continues, Pakistan faces considerable pressure following their unexpected defeat against the USA. This loss has put the Men in Green in a challenging position, and they will be eager to bounce back in their upcoming clash with India. Sunday’s match promises to be a significant test for both teams, with high stakes and intense expectations from fans on both sides.
