Mitchell Marsh was holding the innings together with a composed 45 for Lucknow Super Giants in Match 40 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He had steadied LSG after the quick dismissals of Markram and Pooran. But just when the team needed consolidation, Mukesh Kumar struck gold. The dismissal shifted the tempo firmly in Delhi Capitals (DC)’s favour.
Mukesh Kumar breaks through Mitchell Marsh’s defense with a lethal yorker
On the final ball of the 14th over, Marsh was bowled by a peach of a yorker that completely dismantled his stumps. It was an extraordinary delivery, full, fast, and tailing in late. Mukesh came wide of the crease and generated sharp inward movement, with the ball dipping just before it reached Marsh. The Australian batter, looking to jam his bat down in time, was caught off guard by the late swing. His bat came down a fraction too late and slightly off the intended line, allowing the ball to sneak under and crash into the base of the off stump. Marsh stood in disbelief, frozen for a moment as he processed what had just happened. The dismissal ended his well-compiled 45 off 36, which had included three boundaries and a six. For Delhi, it was a crucial breakthrough just as LSG were looking to rebuild after losing Pooran and Samad. Mukesh Kumar, in his short spell, had turned the tide with two vital wickets in a span of seven balls.

LSG falter after strong start as Mukesh’s 4-fer stuns hosts
LSG posted 159/6 after electing to bat, riding on a solid 87-run opening stand between Aiden Markram (52 off 33) and Marsh (45 off 36). The pair looked dominant during the powerplay and first strategic timeout, taking LSG to 82/0 by the 9th over. However, once Markram fell in the 10th over, the innings began to unravel. Nicholas Pooran, Abdul Samad and Marsh were dismissed in quick succession, the latter two undone by brilliant bowling from Mukesh. Ayush Badoni played a quick cameo (36 off 21) but wickets at the death, including Rishabh Pant for a duck, capped the innings at a sub-par total. Mukesh starred with a career-best 4/33, including the dismissals of Marsh, Pant, Samad, and Badoni. DC now have the upper hand, with a chaseable target on a good batting surface in Lucknow.
