Players with most runs in Ashes history

The Ashes series between England and Australia is considered one of the best Test battles in world cricket.  

Overall 72 Ashes series have been played so far, and Australian batters have dominated them mostly. 

Notably, four of the top five leading run scorers in the tournament's history are Aussie cricketers.

The legendary batter slammed nineteen centuries and twelve fifties in the process.

2) Jack Hobbs (England)

The former England great Jack Hobbs has amassed 3636 runs in 41 Ashes matches.

Hobbs hammered twelve hundreds and fifteen half-centuries in the prestigious event.

3) Allan Border (Australia)

The former Aussie skipper played 42 Ashes Tests in his career and scored 3222 runs.

Allan Border scored runs at an average of 55.55, supported by seven centuries and nineteen fifties.

4) Steve Waugh (Australia)

Steve Waugh has played most Ashes games among the top five leading run scorers.

Waugh represented Australia in 45 Ashes Tests and recorded 3173 runs comprising ten centuries.

5) Steve Smith (Australia)

Smith is the only active cricketer to feature in the list.

The modern-day great has 3044* runs in Ashes supported by eleven hundreds and as many fifties.
