Deepak Jagbir Hooda was born on 19 April 1995 to an ex-Air Force serviceman.
Hooda was active in sports since his childhood.

Hooda started as a wicketkeeper batter but later became a batting all-rounder.
Hooda initially played for Baroda in first-class cricket but switched to Rajasthan later.
He made his IPL debut on 10 April 2015 for Rajasthan Royals.
In the 2016 IPL auction, Hooda was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for a price of 4.2 crores.
He also went on to represent Kings XI Punjab in 2020.
The 28-year-old was part of India’s 2022 ICC T20 World Cup squad as well.
Currently, Hooda is playing for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL. LSG bought him for ₹5.75 crores in 2022.
