The movie ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’ received an overwhelming response from critics and moviegoers alike after its release.
It reveals the life story of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the star Indian wicket-keeper and one of the game’s most popular exponents ever.
Well, there is no denying of the fact that the viewers thoroughly enjoyed the movie with Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role. The audience came out of the theatres with a smiling face. However, the fans are unaware of the fact that to some extent the love story of Dhoni as showcased in the movie do not match reality.
The makers of the movie have made necessary changes in the love affair of the Indian Captain on both occasions.
The role of Priyanka Jha, Dhoni’s first love is played by Disha Patani and Sakshi Dhoni‘s part is performed by Kiara Advani.

Dhoni’s first meeting with Priyanka Jha:
The movie shows that Dhoni met his first girlfriend, Priyanka for the first time on a flight when he was traveling with the Indian team for an ODI match against Pakistan to be played at Vishakapatnam on 5th April 2005. A newbie in the Indian team at that time was upset as he had scored only 3 runs in his previous game.
Dhoni wasn’t sure if he may get a chance in the next game. The scene showed Priyanka consoling Dhoni and said that he would score big.
In the next match, he went on to score his maiden ODI century. The movie later showed that their relationship ended when Priyanka met with an accident on 14th February 2006. But this entire part of the movie is false.
In reality, Dhoni met Priyanka for the first time in 2002 when he was struggling to get place in the Indian team. His girlfriend died in 2003 when he was on the tour of Kenya playing a tri-series for India A.
When Dhoni first met Sakshi:
The movie shows that Dhoni met Sakshi for the first time at hotel Taj Bengal in Kolkata. At that moment, she was doing her internship at the hotel. It also shows that Sakshi was completely unaware of Dhoni’s identity and was meeting him for the first time.
A day later, Sakshi moved to Aurangabad as it was her last day at the hotel. But here also the makers of the movie manipulated some of the facts to make the movie interesting.
The only correct thing about the scene is that she interned at Taj Bengal and when she met Dhoni it was her last day at work.
In reality, Sakshi was not meeting MS Dhoni for the first time at the hotel. In fact, the duo have known each other from their childhood days, since their fathers worked together in Ranchi. Also both Sakshi and Dhoni went to the same school. Later, Sakshi’s family moved to Dehradun and stayed along with her grandfather. It was since then, Dhoni and Sakshi were not in touch with each other.
Dhoni met her again when India was playing against Pakistan at Kolkata in 2007.
