The biopic of India’s most successful skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, ‘M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story’ has taken the internet by storm since the day of its release.
With actor Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role, the movie depicts the journey of Captain Cool from his childhood to how he smashed a winning six in the final of ODI World Cup in 2011 at the Wankhede stadium.
Here are some best dialogues from the biopic which will definitely touch your heart as a Dhoni fan and also inspire you:
When Dhoni’s childhood coach asked him to play do wicket-keeping for the school cricket team, this what Dhoni said.
Dhoni: Sir humko cricket mein batting jyada achha lagta hai (Sir, I love batting more in cricket)
Coach : Pehle wicket keeping pe dhayan do tum…Samjha (First, do focus on your wicket-keeping)”
With Dhoni making waves as a youngster in local cricket, Chittu bhaiya (Param), a childhood friend of Dhoni was desperate to tie Dhoni with a big sponsor. He called the owner of a big bat company over the telephone but the owner refused to sign the young cricketer.
Owner: Dhoni koi tendulkar hai? ( Is Dhoni a Tendulkar ?)
To which Param replied : “Nahi paaji Dhoni Dhoni hai! Ek bar uss ladke ko mauka mil gya na…Toh bahut aage tak jayega. (No dear, Dhoni is Dhoni and if this boy will get a chance he will go miles ahead)
Chittu bhaiya didn’t lose hope as he had full hope in Dhoni’s abilities, therefore he then visits the bat owner’s shop in Jalandhar.
When the owner again refused to sponsor the young unknown player, Param said: “Hume bhi cricket ka shauk tha par talent nahi tha. Is ladke me bahut talent hai. Agar yeh ladka lamba khel gaya to hume bhi lagega ki iske saath-saath hum bhi thoda khel gye.” (I was passionate about cricket too but was not talented. This boy is very talented and if he plays for long, I will feel that I have played a little bit too with him)
The scene which grabbed the attention of both Yuvraj and Dhoni fans.
While talking about Bihar vs Punjab U-19’s match with his friends, Mahi said,
“Toh day 2 mein hum out ho gaye 84 run pe, pura team out ho gya 357 run pe. Punjab batting karne aata hai, unka pehla wicket girta hai 60 pe, fir batting karne aata hai Yuvraj Singh.
“Day 2 ke end ka score 108/1. Purey Day 3 mein sirf unka eke hi wicket girta hai.
“Day 3 ke end ka score 431/2. Yuvraj Singh double century, bahut maara, dhaaga khol diya ek dum.
“Last day – Day 4, Punjab ka total score 839… Yuvraj ke akele ka score 358, Bihar ke total score se 1 run jyada. Humko 2nd inning hi nahi mila.”
In one of the scenes, when Dhoni was working as a ticket collector in Kharagpur. Dhoni’s boss A.K. Ganguly saw him sitting alone and therefore asked Dhoni the reason for his depression.
To this Mahi said: “Sir hum soch rahe the ki hum kya kar rahe hain, hum ek cricketer hain lekin TC ka kaam rahe hain…Khadagpur Station pe..Aur roj gate no. 3 ke saamne khade hoke file ikaththa karte hain…na toh hamara game improve ho rha hai sir…Na to hamko aage ka koi opportunity mil rha sir…..Kab tak aur aise chalega sir.”
After knowing the reason of Dhoni’s depression, his boss spoke one of the most inspirational dialogue of the movie. He said: “Life me sab ball ek samaan thode na milega, merit par khelna hai aur tike rehna hai, scoreboard apne aap badhega.” (You will not get the same ball every time in life, hold your ground by playing according to the situation and the scoreboard will take care of itself)
To concentrate on his cricketing career, Dhoni left his TC job at Kharagpur Railway station and returned back to Ranchi. When he first met his father after leaving the job, he said: “Agar udhar Kharagpur ki security me phas gaye na baba to hum aage kuch nahi kar payenge.” (If I get struck in the security of Kharagpur, I will not be able to do anything)
Dhoni isn’t afraid of taking bold decision when it comes to selecting the right team.
In one of the scenes, Dhoni is asking the selectors to omit the names of three senior players from the ODI team. He said: “Ab ye teeno ODI team mein fit nahi baith rahe hain.”
(These 3 are now not fit to be a part of ODI team).
When the selectors opposed his move, he said: “Ek bowler wicket lega, ek achha batsman aapke liye kisi match me run banayega, kisi match me nahi banayega, lekin ek achha fielder har match me run bachayega. (A bowler will take a wicket, a batsman will score runs in some matches and will fail in others but a good fielder will save runs in every match.)
Mahi didn’t stop here and also said: “We are all servants and we are doing National Duty.”
Here’s why MS Dhoni is one of the most successful captain in International cricket.
In one of the scenes, Dhoni said: “Ek captain tabhi achha captain ho sakta hai jab uski team achhi hogi.” (A captain will become a good captain only if his team is good)
During ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, Dhoni took a gut feeling decision of promoting himself ahead of Yuvi, as showcased in the movie. He had a little conversation with Indian Cricket Team’s coach before going to bat.
“MS Dhoni: Excuse me, Gary. If a wicket goes down, I think I should go in.
Gary Kirsten: But, Yuvi is padded up and ready.
Dhoni: No, it’s Murali, I think I should go in.
Gary Kirsten: You sure?
Dhoni: Just, tell him (Yuvraj), I will go.”
This is not the end, as there are more interesting scenes and dialogues in the movie which made the audience stick to their seats till the end.
