It is every bowler’s dream to pick six wickets off six balls but Australian club cricketer Aled Carey has made it the reality.
Carey, who was unable to take a wicket in his first eight overs against East Ballarat in the Ballarat Cricket Association fourth-team fixture in Victoria, dismissed 6 batsmen on consecutive deliveries in his 9th over.
The first three balls of his 9th over produced a catch at first slip, a catch by the wicketkeeper and a leg before wicket. And his last three victims were clean bowled as the opposition were all out for just 40.
“I was shocked and overwhelmed. I still cannot believe it. I’m very happy. My dad was present at the time and saw the whole thing. He was very happy and proud of me,”Cartey was quoted as saying by the Deccan Chronicle.
Comparing between hitting six sixes in an over and grabbing six wickets, Corey said, “well I would probably say they are equal because they are very hard things to do, you don’t see either done very often but yes, taking six wickets in six balls is rather uncommon,” he opined.
Here is the scorecard showing Aled Carey’s incredible feat:
