Team India’s dashing all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, who is making a comeback in the ODI squad after 3 years in a recent interview opened up about MS Dhoni‘s resignation from the captaincy.
The southpaw said that Dhoni has taken the right decision to step down as captain of the Indian team in limited overs cricket.
“I think he took a very good decision in stepping down (as captain),” he said, “I’m sure he saw that it’s time for the next guy to take over and build the team for the 2019 World Cup and he must have seen that in Virat (Kohli),” Yuvi was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.
Yuvi also appreciated Dhoni’s achievements during his tenure as the Indian skipper. “We have won the T20 World Cup, the ICC World Cup and the ICC Champions Trophy and were also the number one Test team under him. I’m not sure how many captains have that,” he added.
Speaking about his comeback, the 35-year old said, “It’s tough when you go through a period like this in your life when you don’t know where your life is going. I think you’ve just got to keep working hard and believe that one day you will come back to the place you belong,” Yuvraj said.
“Never giving up is my attitude. Things can always change in a matter of a very short time and I’ve had a lot of ups and downs and I’ve learnt to keep bouncing back from it. Hopefully, I can come back to where I belong,” he concluded.
