The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) has quashed the reports of Rahul Dravid replacing Anil Kumble as Team India coach after the ongoing four-match Test series against Australia.
As per reports in India Today, CoA member Diana Edulji has “denied any such development taking place”.
Earlier, the New Indian Express reported that Kumble was approached by the Supreme Court-appointed CoA with the offer of becoming the team director, a post held by Ravi Shastri until last year. The report also said that the CoA was keen on making wholesale changes in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Kumble was given time until April 14 to accept the offer.
The reports also added that the current decision makers in the BCCI were planning a structure similar to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Kumble was asked to look after the senior team, India A, junior team and women’s cricket. So, then, India A and junior team coach Rahul Dravid was expected to be given the reins of handling the senior team.
