In a big blow to Rising Pune Supergiants, star player Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the IPL 2017 due to shoulder injury.
The Australian bowling all-rounder flew back home after the second Test match played between India and Australia in Bengaluru. He may further require around nine months to gain complete fitness after the reconstructive shoulder surgery.
According to media reports, Australia’s physiotherapist David Beakley said, “Mitchell has been playing with a shoulder injury for most of the summer,”. “We have been managing (it) up until now but unfortunately it has progressively deteriorated to a point where he is unable to function at the level required.”
This is a major setback for Rising Pune Supergiants who will be looking to perform much better in the upcoming season after finishing 7th in the league table last year.
