IPL 2017: Ravichandran Ashwin is set to miss the upcoming tournament

The Rising Pune Supergiant offspinner Ravichandran Ashwin is set to miss the 10th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after being ruled out for six to eight weeks with a sports hernia injury.

Ashwin is expected to regain full fitness ahead of the Champions Trophy in June as he is scheduled to begin his rehabilitation soon.

The off-spinner first picked up the injury immediately after the Test series against England in December 2016. In the aftermath, he withdrew from Tamil Nadu’s Ranji Trophy semi-final clash against Karnataka.

Now, Ashwin’s absence will come as a mighty blow for RPS as he was one of the leading wicket-taker for the team with 10 wickets in 14 matches.
