Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals set to make a comeback

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to welcome its two oldest franchises – Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR).

CSK and RR will be welcomed back on the same day the BCCI releases the ‘Invitation To Tender’ for media rights which will be auctioned at the end of this ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

The two-time champions- Chennai Super Kings and the season 1 winners- Rajasthan Royals were suspended for two years by the Supreme Court.

The two teams missed the tournament for two years (2016 and 2017) due to their involvement in a spot-fixing scandal.

CSK is making a grand plan to make their return to the IPL fold and has already finalized events to woo the massive fans base of the franchise.

According to media reports, the franchise will go back to its former captain MS Dhoni who led the team successfully for eight years. Dhoni fans will once again see their favourite star leading the CSK team in the 2018 edition of IPL.

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals are in talks with a leading corporate that already has a stake in an IPL team. RR’s possible return will depend on a new stakeholder. They will possibly return in 2018 with a new owner and even with a new name.
