Tamil Nadu all-rounder Washington Sundar has been named as Ravichandran Ashwin‘s replacement in the Rising Pune Supergiant squad for the IPL 2017 as the latter has been ruled out of the tournament due to sports hernia.
After confirming his selection, Washington said replacing a legend like Ashwin is a ‘big thing’ for him. “I’m feeling really excited to see this new world (IPL). Ashwin is a legend and getting a chance to be part of the team in place of him is a big thing for me. After getting this opportunity, I have gained more belief in my hard work,” Washington was quoted saying to TOI on Wednesday (April 5).
Washington got selected for Pune following the trials he attended on April 3.
The 17-year old made an impressive mark at the ICC U19 World Cup 2014 with his ability to pick up wickets and score handy runs.
