Tennis star Sania Mirza is the favourite child of the media on both sides of the divide — India and Pakistan. She once again consumed some more newsprint and airtime, albeit unintentionally after the final match between the two nations.
Despite her Pakistan connection through husband Shoaib Malik, there has never an ambiguity over her support for the teams.
On Sunday, while there were mixed reactions to the final result of India’s loss and Pakistan’s win on Twitter regarding cricket, Sania has congratulated both the countries for their victories in cricket and hockey games.
Sania Mirza took to her Twitter handle and wrote:
Lost the cricket but won in hockey against Pakistan. Congratulations Team India and congratulations Team Pakistan sport is a great leveller!
Well, Pakistan romped home to a 180-run victory over India in ICC Champions Trophy 2017 final to claim the glittering silverware for the first time. On the other hand, India thrashed Pakistan in Hockey League semi-final with a huge margin of 7-1.
