Akila Dananjaya choose to play against India over honeymoon

Fans got to witness some nail-biting moments in the second ODI between Sri Lanka and India played at Pallekele. Till the end, everyone was wondering as to who would win the game; on one side there were MS Dhoni & Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who left no stone unturned to make the Indian team win and on the other side, there was Sri Lankan spinner Akila Dananjaya, who won many hearts with excellent bowling.

Finally, it was Team India who turned victorious by defeating the hosts by 3 wickets.

But, during the match, Akila Dananjaya put the Men in Blue in trouble by taking 6 wickets in just 4 overs. Indian middle order collapsed in front of Dananjaya after a great opening stand.

He took 6 important wickets:

1.) Rohit Sharma (109-1, 15.3 Over)
2.) Kedar Jadhav (114-3, 17.1 Over)
3.) Virat Kohli (118-4, 17.3 Over)
4.) KL Rahul (119-5, 17.5 Over)
5.) Hardik Pandya (121-6, 19.3 Over)
6.) Axar Patel (131-7, 21.5 Over)

What’s more surprising is that his excellent performance on the field came just one day after his marriage.

Dananjay tied the knot with his sweetheart Nethali Tekshini at Ramadia Ran Mal Holiday Resort on August 23.

What adds the cherry to the cake is his eagerness to represent the national team, he opted to be back with his team members ahead of second ODI rather than going on a honeymoon. Interestingly, Dananjaya’s wife was present at the ground to witness her husband’s dream spell.
