Ravindra Jadeja posts cryptic tweet after India’s team selection for Australia series; then deletes it

After being “rested” as per the BCCI’s rotation policy from the first three matches of the ODI series against Australia, India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja decided to post a cryptic message on Twitter which hinted that the snub from the team is a setback for the Saurashtra star.

“Make your comebacks stronger than your setbacks,” Jadeja tweeted.

However, Jadeja deleted his post after few minutes.

Here’s the screenshot of the deleted tweet by Ravindra Jadeja:

Earlier, the chief selector of Indian cricket team, MSK Prasad was quoted as saying, “The team for the three ODIs against Australia has been selected in line with the rotation policy of the Board and accordingly Ashwin and Jadeja have been rested. The team’s performance during the Sri Lanka tour was outstanding and players like Axar Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal, who performed very well are being given an extended run and this will, in turn, supplement our approach, to build strong reserve strength, as we prepare for forthcoming tours.”

Going by the stats of the last two years from 2015 till date, both Ravichandran Ashwin and Jadeja have not returned with impressive numbers. In 15 ODIs, the Tamil Nadu off-spinner has just 16 wickets while Jadeja has managed 21 wickets from 25 games.

Their lack of wickets in bulk in blue jersey doesn’t take away the sheen from their performances in Test cricket, but the question will still remain as to why such a long “rest” has been given to these world-class bowlers.
