Left-handed batsman Suresh Raina continues to look for every small chance of showcasing himself and make a comeback into the Indian squad as the 30-year-old is now set to play in the All India Buchi Babu Invitational Cricket Tournament to be held in Chennai starting from Saturday.
Raina who is currently leading the Air India squad in the Moin-ud-Dowlah Gold Cup tournament in Hyderabad, confirmed his participation to Sportstar: “I will be in Chennai on September 1 for the Buchi Babu tournament.”
“He will play in the first two games for his side before going for his India Blue duties in Duleep Trophy,” a TNCA official told The Times of India.
Also, the tournament will mark Raina’s return to Chennai where he spent nearly eight seasons during the Indian Premier League (IPL) for team Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Mohit Sharma, the 28-year-old pacer from Haryana, is also set to play in the Buchi Babu 2017 tournament.
The tournament is set to be held across multiple grounds in Tamil Nadu and will see TNCA President’s XI, TNCA City XI and TNCA Districts XI as some of the local state teams.
