International Cricket Council (ICC) has introduced some new rules in international cricket which will be applicable from 1st October 2017.
The changes made by ICC in the existing rules will definitely make the game interesting and more error free.
Here are the new rules made by ICC:
1.) Decision Review System
ODIs:
As per the existing rules if a decision is referred and the replay shows umpire’s call then the team which goes for a review loses it. But, according to the new rules proposed by ICC, the team will not lose the review on umpire’s call.
Tests:
In Test cricket, according to the new rules, a review will not be reloaded after 80 overs. This means a team will have only 2 reviews per innings, irrespective of the numbers of overs bowled.
T20Is:
DRS will now also be used in T20Is.
2.) Bat Sizes
Big hitters likes of Chris Gayle, David Warner, MS Dhoni and Kieron Pollard use very big bats and this is one of the reasons why they smash massive sixes. As per the new rules, the standard sizes of the bats has been decreased and now it will be limited to 108mm in width and 67mm in depth with 40mm edges.
3.) New Run-Out Rule
The new run-out rule introduced by ICC is a big relief for the batsmen. Many times, we got to witness that the batsmen got out even after reaching the crease because his bat popped up in the air after hitting the turf. Now, according to the new rule, once the bat has touched the ground beyond the crease, it means the batsman is in.
4.) Red Card Implementation
According to the new ICC rules, the on-field umpire will now have the authority to send cricketers off the field for serious misconduct/violence on the field.
