WATCH: When MS Dhoni’s brilliance got the better of Glenn Maxwell

India took a 1-0 lead in the 5 match series against Australia by defeating the visitors by 26-runs (D/L) in Chennai on 17th September.

The duo of MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya helped India to post a competitive total of 281/7 in 50 overs which looked impossible when India lost its half side for just 87 runs.

During the Indian innings, Nathan Coulter Nile bowled an out swinger to Virat Kohli and the Indian skipper opted to go for an explosive cover drive but was caught at the point region by Glenn Maxwell. Maxwell was in mid-air when he took a blinder with his right hand in 0.82 seconds.

When Australia came in to bat, David Warner looked to take Australia’s innings forward but his innings was cut-short with a brilliant catch behind the stumps by the former India captain.

MS Dhoni had few seconds to catch a thick edge and the most successful wicket-keeper in the world hung on to the catch in just 0.08 seconds.

The TV broadcaster of the series in India, Star Sports, has shared a video showing both the catches, reflecting on the fact that Dhoni beat Maxwell in his own game.
