Ashish Nehra will probably be remembered for his wide-grinned smile as much as he is for his fiery spell against England in the 2003 World Cup.
But behind all this, there was a moment when the lanky pacer abused newcomer Mahendra Singh Dhoni when the latter spilled a straightforward catch off his bowling.
This infamous incident took place in 2005 when Pakistan toured India. During an ODI match in Ahmedabad, Shahid Afridi tried to cut a wide delivery from the left-arm pacer. However, the swashbuckling all-rounder only managed to edge it behind the wicket. But Dhoni failed to grab the ball, much to Nehra’s dismay who did not control his emotions and bombarded his young teammate with the famous Delhi lingo.

Now 13 years after that incident, the veteran pacer, who retired on Wednesday (November 1), opened about it during a chat show with Star Sports presenter Jatin Sapru.
“That was in the heat of the moment. I know you are speaking about Mahendra Singh Dhoni video. That video became more popular when Mahendra Singh Dhoni reached where he is now,” said Nehra when the presenter told him he used to lose his cool on the field.
