Sania Mirza heaps praise on Virat Kohli at the Indian Sports Honours Awards

India’s one of the top sportswomen, tennis ace Sania Mirza, attended the Indian Sports Honours in Mumbai earlier this week, where she did a good job not letting Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma hog all the limelight.

A fashion risk-taker at heart, Sania shone in a metallic pantsuit at the awards ceremony.

Along with Kohli, Sania players namely Ajinkya Rahane, Umesh Yadav, Zaheer Khan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ashish Nehra, Kedar Jadhav, Pullela Gopichand, Mithali Raj, Saina Nehwal, Mahesh Bhupathi, PV Sindhu, Srikanth Kidambi were the star attractions from the sporting world.

Speaking about the awards, Sania said, “I think acknowledgement is good for everyone whether you’re an athlete or not. I think it is really good if you are acknowledged and I think these kind of awards are something that we athletes always say that it’s always the crickets who get the awards and other sportsmen don’t. I think that this is a good way and it is an amazing space where they have tried to touch upon that. I think it is really good. I am looking forward to it and am really excited to see what is in store. It is the first year of such award so I really hope that this can continue and become a legacy.”

Sania praises Virat Kohli:

Sania admired Kohli’s efforts. “Virat is doing an amazing job. We all know, the amazing batsman he is and the amazing captain we have. But it’s really nice, as an athlete what he is trying to bring in sports and trying to give exposure to every other sport in our country,” the Tennis star added.
