In a rain-curtailed match reduced to 8 overs each due to rain, India held their nerves to beat New Zealand by 6 runs in the deciding match played at Thiruvananthapuram to win the T20I series 2-1.
New Zealand skipper Kane Willamson won the toss and elected to bowl first.
The Blackcaps restricted the Men in Blue to 67 runs. While defending the target, the Indian bowlers showed great discipline and the match went right down to the wire.
During the post-match presentation, Virat Kohli was handed over the trophy and the next what followed is something which was the moment of the day as the Indian skipper gave the winning trophy straight into the hands of the newcomer Mohammed Siraj who showed the trophy to the audience in joy.
