The fans must have got disappointed when they did not see MS Dhoni‘s batting in the third T20I in Thiruvananthapuram’s Greenfield International Stadium which was hosting its first international game on Tuesday.
However, just towards the end of the game, the crowd witnessed another brilliance from the former India skipper when he ran out Tom Bruce in a dramatic fashion.
The incident happened in the 7th over when New Zealand needed 20 runs from the last 7 balls in pursuit of 68.
Bruce tried to reverse sweep Jasprit Bumrah‘s delivery but missed it. However, with runs being the need of the hour, he ran for a single, meanwhile, Dhoni threw the ball to Bumrah who was standing in the middle of the pitch.
The pacer missed to hit the stumps at the bowler’s end before Hardik Pandya came in from mid-on and threw the ball to Dhoni who did the rest.
Later, this run-out by Dhoni and Hardik proved to be the turning point of the match and the series, which the Men in Blue won by 2-1.
