Jasprit Bumrah’s grandfather’s dead body found in the Sabarmati river

In a sad news for young Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, his grandfather Santokh Singh‘s dead body has been found by Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) in the Sabarmati river on Sunday.

Santokh, aged 84, was reportedly in Ahmedabad to meet his grandson Jasprit and was missing since Friday afternoon after his family members filed a missing report with the Vastrapur police. However, the pacer’s family allegedly refused Santok from meeting or talking to him.

“He expressed a wish to meet his grandson on his birthday on December 5. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to meet Jasprit. On December 8, Santokh called his son Balvinder Singh, who lives in Jharkhand, and told him that he was leaving to meet his deceased wife,” the complaint was quoted saying by the Ahmedabad Mirror.

Another source said that Santok turned up at his daughter’s residence at Sonal Apartments, Vastrapur on December 1, but was offered no apathy by the family.

“When we went to meet Jasprit’s mother Daljit Kaur at a city school where she is a teacher, she refused to allow my father any contact with Jasprit. She even refused to share her son’s phone number so that father could talk to him. My father was grief-stricken by this. He left home on Friday afternoon and never returned,” Rajinder said.

Jasprit’s grandfather enjoyed success as a businessman during the 80s and the 90s in Gujarat, having owned three factories. Santok who was assisted by Jasprit’s father, Jasbir in the business, later sold the business after the death of Jasbir.

He then moved to Uddham Singh Nagar in Uttarakhand and has been making a living by driving a tempo since he moved there from Ahmedabad. He previously even expressed the desire of meeting his grandson after 17 years, watching him make waves in international cricket.
