Riding on his third ODI double century in the recently concluded series against Sri Lankan, India’s stand-in captain Rohit Sharma has climbed up to the fifth position in the latest International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Rankings for batsmen in ODIs.
India won the three-match series 2-1 by winning the final ODI by 8 wickets in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.
Rohit crossed the 800-point mark for the first time in the ICC rankings to attain his career-best rating. His currently tally stands at 816, thanks to his 208 in the second match against Sri Lanka in Mohali. However, it’s not Rohit’s career-best ranking as he was No. 3 in February 2016.
He was placed seventh before the current rankings were released by the ICC on Monday.
Among the Indian bowlers, legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal has moved up 23 places to take 28th place after finishing with six wickets in the series. Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav has gained 16 places to be at the career-best 56th position.
