IPL 2018: Chennai Super Kings appoint their captain, vice-captain for the season

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise is all set to make a comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year. The Men in Yellow were out of action in the previous two seasons of the tournament. CSK was serving their two-year suspension period along with the other franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR). Now, both RR and CSK are back to light up the upcoming IPL.

In the recent IPL retentions, CSK management was clear in their stance to retain three of their biggest stars over the years. They retained the services of former Indian captain MS Dhoni, southpaw Suresh Raina and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

And now, as per the recent developments, the Chennai camp has already zeroed in on the captain and vice-captain of the side.

While Dhoni will return to his post as captain of the team, Raina will be the vice-captain and the franchise is going to go all out to find the perfect players for the team in the upcoming IPL auction on January 27 & 28.

“MS Dhoni is going to be the captain, I’m going to be the vice-captain, Jadeja is also going to be there. Then there are certain players in the auction. We all will be having a meeting soon and then decide what planning we will be having for the auction,” Raina was quoted as saying while speaking to India Today during an interview.

It is also learnt that both Dhoni and Raina have already got the list of potential players they will be looking out for in the auction.

Raina added, “I have already got the sheet, I’ll have a go through it, MS will also go through it. It’s important to have few important quality Indian players. This year you will have the best team in CSK, I have a feeling. Because two years I have played for Gujarat, he (Dhoni) played in Pune and played a lot of matches for India also and then I’ve been playing a lot of domestic games…I’ve seen a lot of talent.”
