Defending champions, Mumbai Indians (MI) is the most successful team in the IPL history.
Mumbai has had to some of the greatest players of the game along with them in the past, with Sachin Tendulkar, Sanath Jayasuriya and Ricky Ponting to name a few.
Over the years, MI’s success has been built on a strong core group of players in their side, with the likes of Rohit Sharma, Lasith Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah and Kieron Pollard being an integral part of the franchise.
Ahead of the mega auction, Mumbai retained Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah, as they look to build their team around these three players this season.
After a decade of outstanding service, Harbhajan Singh will now unlikely be a part of the Mumbai franchise and that is why MI is looking across the globe for a wicket-taking spinner.
According to reports as in Sportsrush, the Mumbai franchise have set their eyes on star Afghani cricketer Rashid Khan. They are eager to buy him at any cost in the auction taking place in Bengaluru on 27th and 28th of January.
Rashid played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad last year, as he was picked up for Rs 4 crores. Halfway through the tournament, he was the leading wicket-taker in the IPL, as the Afghan proved to be a terrific signing for the orange army.
The young leggie has been in superb form in the ongoing Big Bash League in Australia as well.
Earlier, Rashid also had a wonderful time in the Caribbean Premier League in the West Indies, as he picked up 14 wickets in 12 matches, including a hat-trick.
However, Sunrisers do have three RTMs in their kitty, and will surely be looking to use one on Rashid. Either way, the Afghan will be one to watch out for in the IPL auction.
