IPL 2018 season opener to be played on April 5

The most likely schedule for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 has been revealed. The 11th edition of the tournament is expected to start with an opening game on April 5 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

As per reports in NewX, the grand final of the 2018 IPL will be played on 21st May. Traditionally, the two finalists of the previous edition take on each other in the first match of the following version of the tournament. But this time around it will be a different scenario since Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) team no longer exists in the league and Mumbai Indians will have a different opponent.

It has been reported that the team to replace RPS will be one of the two returning franchises Chennai Super Kings (CSK). So we will see Rohit Sharma’s Paltan take on MS Dhoni’s yellow army and the league couldn’t have had a better and bigger start.

Earlier, all the eight teams, including the likes of Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians retained their star players ahead of the players auction. Making their comeback in the 11th edition of the tournament, Rajasthan Royals retained Aussie skipper Steve Smith while Chennai Super Kings regrouped their charismatic trio of former Team India skipper MS Dhoni, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, and hard-hitting batsman Suresh Raina.

Team India skipper Virat Kohli became the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League after getting retained for a staggering sum of Rs 17 crores by the Bengaluru giants Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
