The Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions over the years have witnessed numerous occasions where franchises have gone for massive bids in order to get the players of their choice. While some have repaid the faith invested in them by the franchises, providing value for money with some blistering performances, some of them failed miserably to deliver the goods.
However, there have always been some players in the IPL auctions who are bought at pretty much bargain prices by the franchises but end up proving themselves better than most of the players signed for a greater fee than them.
Those players have turned out to be the real game changers for their respective franchises over the years making them fan favourites as well.
For the 11th edition of the IPL, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise have retained the West Indies duo Sunil Narine and Andre Russel. And now as per the reports in Sportsrush, Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan co-owned KKR team franchise is looking to build a new side around Ajinkya Rahane.
The graceful batsman has shown promise as skipper in the past, as his aggressive style of captaincy has drawn praise from several quarters.
While Rajasthan Royals (RR) could bring Rahane back using their RTM card, he is expected to leave the franchise and try his fortunes elsewhere.
The Mumbai lad has always been someone who preferred the ball to come to the bat, with his average in the overseas countries (South Africa, England, Australia) close to 50. His prior experience as a skipper also works in his favour, that is why Rahane looks like the supreme candidate at this point in time for KKR.
