3.) Dean Elgar – 1128 runs
The Proteas opener Dean Elgar had a fantastic 2017, he scored 1128 runs with an average of 53.71 in 21 innings. Elgar was also appointed as a stand-in captain for the South African side and he did a pretty good job. He was consistent throughout the year and that rewarded him with the third position in the top run-getters list in Tests.
