IPL 2018: David Miller thanks Kings XI Punjab franchise after being retained

Kings XI Punjab retained David Miller during the IPL players auction held in Bengaluru. They used their Right To Match (RTM) card to get him in the squad for Rs 3 crore. Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils were bidding aggressively for the player and then, in the end, it was Mumbai Indians, who clinched the deal.

However, the Preity Zinta co-owned franchise used their RTM option to get Miller back in the team.

David Miller is a perfect T20 batsman, who can control the innings and then, in the end, smash the bowlers out of the park as well. He has played 66 games in the IPL and has scored 1563 runs at an average of 35.52 and with a strike rate of 141.44. Preity Zinta was intelligent enough to not let her side’s star player go away.

With Miller in the side and Yuvraj Singh back in the squad, KXIP has strengthened their middle-order now. Not to forget they also have KL Rahul, Aaron Finch and Chris Gayle with them.

Upon retention, the 28-year-old South Africa cricketer took to Twitter to extend the courtesy to his franchise. He wrote, “Thank you @lionsdenkxip For giving me another opportunity at the IPL. Look forward to a great year ahead with a new squad. #IPL2018 #LivePunjabiPlayPunjabi.”

The big-hitting left-hander is currently one of the most ferocious strikers of the cricket ball, which is evident from the fact that he holds the record for the 3rd fastest century in the history of the tournament scoring unbeaten 101 off just 38 balls against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

He also holds the record of the fastest T20 international century; sharing it with India’s Rohit Sharma.
