Pink Day Auction: Complete list of cricketers and their jersey-prices

Cricket South Africa hosts a One Day International (ODI) at the Wanderers in Johannesburg every year where the Proteas players don the pink jersey, which is quite different from their regular outfit.

The ‘Pink Day’ is celebrated in order to promote awareness of breast cancer and
the jerseys of the cricketers are raised for open bidding.

The proceeds from the game are donated to the Breast Care Unit at the Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital which is headed by Doctor Sarah Nietz and her team of specialist nurses. The clinic is known for providing quality breast care irrespective of their geographical location and other socio-economic elements. Every year almost 350 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and the institution lends their helping hand and provides services to seven district hospitals.

The motto of the initiative for the noble cause is to raise more than one million Rand. Hence, apart from the cricketers, the crowd was also encouraged to wear pink attires on the ground.

According to the reports as in Super Sport, the Pink Day Auction is done and dusted and the list of auctioned jerseys have been released.

Former South Africa skipper AB de Villiers fetched the highest bid with Rand 56,000 along with fast-bowler Kagiso Rabada. Faf de Plessis and Quinton de Kock also fetched handsome bids with Rand 30,000 and Rand 50,000 respectively.
