India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was named the captain of the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The 31-year-old off-spinner was picked by KXIP co-owner Preity Zinta for Rs. 7.60 crores during the player’s auction held in January.

Aswhin was a part of the Rising Pune Supergiant in the 2016-2017 season and represented Chennai Super Kings from 2009 to 2015. In 111 IPL matches so far, he has picked 100 wickets at an average of 24.99 and at an economy rate of 6.55.
