India fast bowler Mohammed Shami has lashed out his wife Hasin Jahan suggesting that she might have lost her mental balance or is trying to sabotage his career by accusing him of having extra-marital affairs, torture and even match-fixing.
“I think she (Hasin Jahan) has lost her mental stability. She has to prove all the allegations made against me. If I have tortured her then she needs to prove it.
“I don’t know what she is up to. She needs to explain what has changed so much in these few days. She is suddenly leveling all these accusations on me. She is accusing of harassment. She is even accusing me of match-fixing. I think she has lost her mental balance or it might be her game plan to sabotage my career,” Shami told the reporters of ABP news.
The 27-year-old also said that the whole episode has left him and his family mentally disturbed and wants a thorough investigation into the matter.
“The entire episode is disturbing. I don’t know what she is up to. She needs to explain what has changed so much in these few days. She is suddenly leveling all these accusations on me. She is accusing of harassment. She is even accusing me of match-fixing.
“As far as the allegation of compromising my performance while playing for the country is concerned, I would rather die than do something like this,” Shami said.
Recently, Shami’s name has been withheld from the new BCCI Central Contracts list; commenting on the same the pacer said that he has full faith on the Indian Cricket board and it will be behind him no matter what.
“As far as cricket is concerned, I trust that BCCI will check this matter with their legal team and then take a decision on my contract. They must have thought about it before taking this decision,” Shami said.
“I went to Dharamsala to play (Deodhar Trophy) and I heard about all this. Even if I was involved in all this somebody other than my wife would have spoken up. Or some other girl would have complained to my wife about my affair.
“You can check my WhatsApp…all those WhatsApp messages she has shown to the media, that is neither my chat nor my phone number. I am ready to apologise if this case goes in favour of my wife,” Shami added.
Shami also said that he plans to take appropriate legal action against Jahan.
“I will also take legal action against her. Me and my family always wanted to stay with her. I have always loved her. You have seen that how happy we were in Holi. But I feel she is planning something evil,” he concluded.
