Smriti Mandhana debut in Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list

Indian women cricket team’s star player Smriti Mandhana featured in Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2018 list on Tuesday.

In total four Indians are on the list of ‘Entertainment & Sports’ category, with the other three being Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, Badminton ace PV Sindhu and Indian national Polo team captain Padmanabh Singh.

Smriti Mandhana has been in top-notch form since her return in 2017. She fired in the first two games of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017.

She then blazed against South Africa scoring 219 runs at an average of 73. Her 219 also includes career-best ODI score of 135 in the 2nd ODI. As in the T20Is, she was the second best scorer after Mithali Raj with 135 runs from 5 matches.

In a dismal show against Australia, Mandhana was the only highlight of Indian Eves’ performance. In 3 ODIs, Mandhana scored 2 fifties and ended the series with a total of 131 runs at a staggering strike rate of 109.16.

Also, in the ongoing Paytm tri-series, Mandhana has been the mainstay batter for the Indian team. In the 3rd T20I against England, she scored the fastest fifty by an Indian woman off just 25 balls.

Although Indian Women have been eliminated from the T20I series, Mandhana has stood out for her consistency.
