Tammy Beaumont congratulates Rashid Khan and Afghanistan team with a quirky message

Afghanistan made an extraordinary comeback to qualify for the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup when they defeated Ireland by five wickets with four balls to spare in a closely fought Qualifier Super Six contest at Harare Sports Club on Thursday.

The Afghans will now take on West Indies in the final at the same venue on Sunday in what would be a mere formality with both teams already guaranteed a spot in next year’s Cricket World Cup to be hosted by England and Wales.

During the match against Ireland, leg-spinner Rashid Khan picked up three wickets for 40 in his 10 overs, to move closer to 100 ODI wickets.

Tammy Beaumont’s message

Following Afghanistan team’s stupendous performance, their players were showered with accolades from every part of the world. They were hailed significantly for the display of determination after the initial slump in the tournament.

Meanwhile, English women’s cricketer Tammy Beaumont also congratulated the Afghanistan team for their entry into the World Cup.

She took to Twitter and replied to Rashid Khan’s tweet with a humorous message. She wrote, “Congrats to you and your team Rash! I hope to see you in England and maybe bring you a green tea!”
